FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy of rare refractory metals. Method of obtaining pure niobium involves reduction melting of charge to obtain rough ingots, slag removal from their surface and multiple electronic beam remelting with subsequent cutting of ingots. Charge is used containing niobium pentoxide, calcium, aluminium and sublimates second and next electron-beam furnaces. Reduction melting of charge is carried out with addition of dried chip metallic niobium length of up to 20 mm in amount of 1.1-1.8 wt% of weight of niobium pentoxide.
EFFECT: higher extraction of niobium in ingots and reduced consumption of niobium pentoxide.
