FIELD: environmental protection.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to environmental protection and protection of objects from contamination, analysing the state of radioactive substances and can be used in testing nuclear weapons and other nuclear-physical plants (NPP). Method of determining nuclear energy release involves measurement of induced activity contained in soil Na-24, formed from the stream of neutrons as a result of nuclear fission reaction (NFR) on the investigated object, performing neutron-physical calculations, determining the value of energy release along derived dependencies. Neutron-physical calculations include correction of measured activity of Na-24 from neutron flux in the soil depth, concentration of natural Na-23 and algorithms of transition to energy release.
EFFECT: technical result is possibility of determining energy release and its value in case of emergency situations at NPP under the absence of previously installed systems of detecting ionising radiations in case of any NFR.
