METHOD OF LASER SCLERECTOMY Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC A61F9/08 

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention aims at treating patients with glaucoma. Local anaesthesia is carried out epibulbar. A bridle suture is applied on top rectus muscle. Conjunctiva and Tenon's capsule is incised in upper portion with length of 7-10 mm by limb. Conjunctiva and Tenon's space is separated from limb, relaxed hemostasis is performed. Between upper and external direct muscles by means of excimer laser in projection of ciliary body laser ablation of scleral tissue at depth of 2/3-4/5 initial thickness of sclera in limb is carried out and 1-2 interrupted suturing are applied on conjunctiva. Thinning of sclera is performed by means of excimer laser for producing: a) zone of laser ablation with diameter of 5-7 mm; or b) zone of laser ablation of rectangular shape with flat profile size of 5×7 mm.

EFFECT: method enables: provide reliable reinforcement of intraocular fluid filtering at 25-50 % of initial due to activation uveoscleral outflow; increasing permeability of the sclera; normalisation of eye hydrodynamics: intraocular pressure, ease of intraocular fluid outflow coefficient; reducing operative injures due to minimisation zone and non-invasive nature of laser exposure.
