FIELD: glass.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for dividing glass and formation of bevels thereon. When dividing glass using laser radiation to workpieces made from glass, a focused laser beam (1) is directed onto glass to be divided, and at formation of at least two glass workpieces is divided, wherein there are side surfaces (15) in region of cutting. Once glass is divided, laser beam (1) is directed at least on one edge (16) of side surface (15) of formed workpiece (5) to divide glass from edge (16), thus forming bevel (17), which is located on side surface (15). To form bevel (17) at least one laser source (6) and reflector (19) designed therefor are moved along side surface (15) so that laser beam (1), which with plane of workpiece (5) forms an acute angle, is effective for formation of bevel (17). During cutting there is fluid medium (20), covering end area (16) on which bevel (17) is to be made. Refraction index of medium (20) is close to refraction index of glass material of article. Laser source (6) in area of entrance of laser beam (1) into article and reflector (19) in output area of beam from article are located within medium (20).
EFFECT: technical result is higher efficiency of glass laser cutting and avoiding need to polish glass bevels.
