FIELD: nuclear physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to device and method of detecting nuclear material, possibly hidden in container, etc. Device for detecting nuclear material for detecting nuclear material in an object comprises: a neutron source configured to neutron generation, used for irradiating object; detection unit configured to detect neutrons, including primary neutrons emitted by a source of neutrons, and secondary neutrons generated in a nuclear fission reaction nuclear material; and a processing unit configured to perform analysis of reactor noise based on data obtained when detecting neutron detection unit, wherein a neutron source is made with possibility of generating neutrons in pulsed mode, and a processing unit is configured to perform analysis of reactor noise based on data received by exclusion of data time series obtained when detecting neutron detection unit, time-domain data containing time interval generation during which a neutron source generates neutrons in pulse mode.
EFFECT: technical result is high efficiency of detecting nuclear material.
