FIELD: analysis of chemical composition, in particular, detection of organic materials. SUBSTANCE: method involves exposition of article to flux of fast neutrons which have identical power and are generated by reaction in material of target under generation of charged back-blow particles. Then method involves detection of generation time, power and vectors of source neutron flux using detection time and coordinates of interaction point between charged back-blow particles and position-sensitive detectors of back-blow particles. Then method involves detection of neutrons which are dissipated in single and resilient way on materials inside article under analysis. Composition and three- dimensional distribution of materials in article under investigation are judged by weights of nuclei of their elements which are detected by power values and neutron dissipation angles taking into account known generation time, power and vectors of source movement of neutrons which met single resilient dissipation in materials of article under analysis, and taking into account coordinates of points in which this dissipation occurred using detection of time and coordinates of two next interactions of each such neutron to working material of at least two position-sensitive neutron detectors. First interaction is reaction of resilient dissipation of neutrons on known material of these detectors. EFFECT: practical impossibility of accidental or willful concealment of material under investigation in luggage. 5 cl, 3 dwg
