SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering. Proposed method comprises detecting decaying stator voltage induced by damped field of rotor at failure of idle state of cold and hot machine. Method includes determining time constants To cold and To hot when voltage of stator is damped to 0.368 of initial voltage Uo before disconnection and then average temperature of short-circuited winding for copper by formula: , where tcold is rotor temperature at first measurement in cold state, tcool is coolant temperature when measuring in hot state.

EFFECT: technical result consists in measurement of average temperature of short-circuited winding of induction motor rotor on change in resistance at direct current.
