FIELD: lighting.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to lighting device for generation of light. Primary light generator generates primary light (6), which is converted by light converting material (8) into secondary light (3), wherein primary light is directed to primary surface (9) of light converting material. Enclosure (10) comprising transparent cover (7) hermetically encloses light converting material, wherein transparent cover is transparent to primary light and located on primary surface of light converting material.
EFFECT: enclosure increases photostability of light converting material, which enables to increase intensity of primary light by, for example, increasing power of primary light and, thus, of secondary light, and/or by focusing primary light onto a smaller area on primary surface, thereby allowing decreasing optical factor of secondary light, without damaging light converting material.
