SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to ophthalmology, and is applicable for treating and/or preventing a condition specified in a macular oedema, conditions causing damage photoreceptors of retina and/or retinal pigment epithelium cells and dryness eye in mammals. Combination of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), or a salt or an ester thereof, are provided for use in treatment and/or prophylaxis of a condition selected from macular oedema, conditions causing damage to retinal photoreceptors and/or retinal pigment epithelial cells, and dry eyes in a mammal. Combined dosage EPA and DHA ranges from 5 to 25 mmol per day. Molar ratio of DHA and EPA ranges from 1:1 to 5:1. Dosage of EPA ranges from 4 to 15 mmol per day. Dosage DHA ranges from 2 to 7.5 mmol per day. Composition is provided, containing EPA and DHA and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
