SUBSTANCE: present group of inventions relates to the pharmaceutical industry, specifically to use of the composition for preventing or treating a visual impairment and a method of preventing or treating a visual impairment. Use of the composition containing the active ingredients: ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), selected from ursodeoxycholic acid, tauroursodeoxycholic acid and glycoursodeoxycholic acid; a water-soluble product of transformation of starch; to prevent or treat vision disorders, pH of said composition is 6.5–8; water-soluble starch conversion product is maltodextrin, and the minimum weight ratio of ursodeoxycholic acid and maltodextrin is equal to 1:13–1:25; said composition is prepared for oral administration; daily dose of UDCA in the composition for oral administration is 5–30 mg/kg; visual impairment is a visual disorder selected from the group consisting of macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Method for preventing or treating vision disorders, consisting of macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, comprising administering to a subject a therapeutically effective amount of a composition containing the active ingredients: ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), selected from ursodeoxycholic acid, tauroursodeoxycholic acid and glycoursodeoxycholic acid; and a water-soluble starch transformation product; pH of said composition is 6.5–8; where the water-soluble starch conversion product is maltodextrin, and the minimum weight ratio of ursodeoxycholic acid and maltodextrin is equal to 1:13–1:25; said composition is prepared for oral administration; where the daily dose of UDCA in the oral composition is 5–30 mg/kg.

EFFECT: above described application of a transparent stable composition and a method for preventing or treating vision disorders are effective, safe.
