FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to evaluation of computer resources of a computer network by objects of interest taking into account the requirements to computer systems, on which the computer resources are arranged, and requirements to objects of interest as to the content of computer resources. Method of determining computer resources in a computer network comprises the following stages: a) formation by means of a computer network inventory means of a list of computer resources on computer systems, satisfying requirements to computer systems; where the computer network consists of at least two computer systems; where requirements to computer systems are stored in the database of requirements to computer systems of a requirements storage means; b) collection, by means of the computer network inventory means of information on all objects of interest, available on computer resources from the said list of computer resources; where a computer resource includes at least one object of interest; where objects of interest are files and software; c) analysis, by means of a data analysis device, of the collected information for determination of objects of interest, satisfying requirements to objects of interest; where requirements to objects of interest are stored in a database of requirements to objects of interest of a requirements storage device; d) evaluation, by means of a device for estimation of computer resources, every computer resource from a list of computer resources by the number of objects of interest, satisfying requirements to objects of interest; e) is determination, by means of a device for estimation of computer resources, of at least one computer resource, having the highest estimation among all computer resources within the computer network, based on results of estimation made at step d).

EFFECT: ensuring of a possibility to determine computer resources within a computer network, suitable for the purposes set by selected requirements.
