FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing of red sludges to produce synthetic aluminium cast iron (sintegal). Method involves mixing sludge with lime at amount of 7-10 wt% of weight of sludge, drying of produced charge, melting of charge in arc furnace at temperature of 1,500-1,580 °C in presence of catalyst in form of cast iron or steel to allow reduction of iron oxides, and introduction of aluminium to obtained melt in amount of 1.5-4.0 % of melt weight. At that, for melting of charge in smelting bath of arc furnace, first, said catalyst is loaded, and then at least in three stages parts of said charge are loaded.
EFFECT: invention allows improving quality of aluminium cast iron, increases efficiency of process, reduces power consumption.
