FIELD: treatment plants.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sorbents for cleaning water from oil products. Sorbent is obtained by dissolving polyethylene terephthalate wastes in an organic solvent. Benzyl alcohol is used as a solvent which is additionally added with plasticizer, i.e. dibutyl phthalate. Solution is stirred at temperature 150 °C at the rate 75-100 rpm for 10 minutes. Then, the mixture is cooled to room temperature while stirring until precipitation of fine powder. Powder is combined with acetone in ratio 1:2 to form a porous structure, acetone remains are removed by filtering and drying.
EFFECT: technical result consists in production of hydrophobic material, having high sorption capacity for oil and oil products.
