FIELD: weapons and ammunition.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in proximity fuses ammunition. Method of actuation of initiator of gas-dynamic pulse device involves detection of object. Detection is carried out using a sensor responding to approach to external bodies by probing space with a series of light pulses with subsequent recording of reflected pulses. Method also includes generating a signal of actuation of initiator at recording all reflected pulses of current series. End of pulses recorded in a predetermined time interval that defines the distance to object. Probing light pulses are emitted at least one pair of differently directed radiators. Reflected signals are registered by photodetectors associated with each radiator. Every next probing pulse series formed after detecting previous reflected one. Generating a signal for actuating the initiator is indicated with recording of reflected signals of current series of one of the pairs of radiators. Duration of time interval, which characterises the error of determining distance to the object is specified taking into account the duration of the leading edge of the light pulse.

EFFECT: higher noise immunity, reduced power consumption of the device.
