FIELD: material science.

SUBSTANCE: method involves preparation of sample, obtaining its surface image, physical and mechanical action on specimen, imaging its surface after exposure, measurement of samples image pixels brightness before and after exposure, and their subsequent comparison, wherein two-dimensional array of image pixel brightness values of samples before and after exposure are formed, in each matrix rectangular fragments are selected, for each of them brightness profile in form of one-dimensional signal by collection of brightness values of pixels in columns or rows of rectangular fragments is constructed, then array of its amplitude-frequency characteristics is determined, then arrays are compared before and after exposure, accumulated absolute deviation of their elements and first quantitative assessment of sample change is produced, similarly successively determined quantitative assessment of following stages of physical and mechanical action and to constructed kinetic characteristic obtained estimates, two tangents in first and last points are made, angle of inclination between tangents is measured, and by its value continuation or termination of test cycle is determined: if angle exceeds threshold value, then moment of destruction of sample is fixed automatically and testing is stopped, then values reflecting degree of fabric damage are evaluated.

EFFECT: expanded operating performances, higher information value and objectivity of quantitative estimation of changes in appearance geotextile fabric.
