FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for local hypothermia of spinal cord in traumatic injuries of upper cervical spine. Method comprises placing catheter by Tuohy needle at a point located at 1-1.5 cm more caudal and 1-1.5 cm more dorsal apex of mastoid process in a projection of a lateral sub-arachnoid space at level of C1-C2 vertebras with further direction of its distal end in a sagittal plane perpendicular to axis of spine. After movement of Tuohy needle along lumen, catheter is oriented in cranial direction towards greater foramen with arrangement of its distal end at level of arcs of C1 vertebra. Further, method includes passing therethrough spinal cord perfusion chilled to +9…11 °C with 0.9 % sodium chloride solution at a rate of 40-60 drops a minute. Procedure is performed continuously for 5-7 days.
EFFECT: method provides reduces risk of treatment-induced traumatic injuries of substance of spinal cord when performing non-operation local hypothermia without position changes of position of body of patients.
