FIELD: metal processing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machining in NC machine tools and can be applied to monitor wear of mill teeth in radial and axial directions. Method involves installation of calibrated probe on tool, with two flat surfaces perpendicular to direction of measurement of wear therein, and on each therein are projections with edge parallel to appropriate flat surface of calibrated probe. Mill by means of machine working element in turn is displaced into positions for measuring radial and axial wear, wherein axis of mill rotation and edge of appropriate ledge is located in one plane perpendicular to appropriate flat surface of calibrated probe, and mill is moved perpendicular to this surface until moment of first contact of teeth with edge of ledge, first coordinate of machine working element is fixed, and counting number of teeth contacts with edge of ledge per one revolution of mill is begun, and moment when amount of said touches becomes equal to number of teeth, second coordinate of machine working element is fixed, corresponding wear of mill teeth is determined by difference between fixed first and second coordinates of machine working element.

EFFECT: applying invention enables more accurate determination of wear of mills.
