FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment. Method of determining media interface border in separators of crude oil involves exposing separator with settled well fluid to radiation, gamma-quanta recording and analysis of produced gamma-quanta spectra. One performs stepwise located in horizontal plane scanning system downwards displacement along separator. System consists of fast neutron source, gamma-quanta detecting unit and thermal neutrons detecting unit. At fixed position of system separator is exposed to fast neutrons. Gamma-quanta and thermal neutrons are recorded. Gamma-quanta spectrum is analysed for presence of two power peaks 6.13±0.62 MeV from oxygen and 1.78±0.18 MeV from silicon. Procedure is repeated in following position of scanning system. Conclusion on gas-oil border presence is made based on slow neutrons detecting. Conclusion on of oil-water boundary presence is made based on additional gamma quanta detection from oxygen. Conclusion on water-bitumen with sand boundary presence is made based on of gamma quanta from silicon detection in addition to already listed.

EFFECT: technical result is expansion of range of concentrations of gas while determining media interface border in crude oil separators.
