FIELD: optics; data processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to techniques for optical determination of position and/or orientation of object in space based on images obtained from cameras. Disclosed is a method for optical determination of position and/or orientation of object in space based on images from at least one camera. Method includes a step of recording at least one two-dimensional image of the object and deriving from the said image of two-dimensional coordinates of the contour points. Further, according to the method, there is calculated the contour line of the model depending on the two-dimensional coordinates of the contour points. Also, based on the model contour line model, there is determined at least one two-dimensional area of the object.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of determining object position and orientation in space.
