FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to plants biology and forestry. Method involves determination of peroxidase activity in plant tissue and identification of its correlation with degree of veining. Peroxidase activity is determined in plants birch with signs of blotchness aged ≥ 15 years in period of active cambial growth in xylary tissue in oxidation of guaiacol at pH 4.8. Peroxidase activity in direct proportion to correlate with degree of veining.
EFFECT: method enables more accurate assessment of degree of veining Birchwood at minimum damage of tree trunk and can be used for rapid diagnosis of quality of wood plants on wood-seed plantations, and in places of their natural growth.
