FIELD: coating.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to application of wear-resistant coatings on cutting tool or parts of machines. Cathode of electric arc evaporator for application of wear resistant coatings based on nitrides of titanium and aluminium, containing consumable part of titanium and aluminium compound at their ratio, wt%: titanium 30-70, aluminium 30-70, and cathode holder made of titanium with cylindrical cavity with depth of 5-6 mm and having inner collar rounding radius not less than 3 mm. Method of making said, in which filler material is made in form of cylindrical rod with length of 500-600 mm and diameter of 15-20 mm, consisting of thin-wall shell made from aluminium or titanium foil and charge located inside it consisting of titanium in form of pieces of band size 10×20 mm and aluminium in form of granules with size of 5-10 mm to be remelted. Remelting is performed using fusible tungsten electrode at 350-400 A and supply of argon at 18-20 l/min to produce ingot weight 40-70 g, and then repeated re-melting produced ingot in induction crucible furnace and casting of obtained cathode consumed part alloy in cathode holder.
EFFECT: simplified manufacturing of cathodes of electric arc evaporator containing consumable part from titanium and aluminium alloys.
