FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of wear-, shock-, heat-, crack- and corrosion-resistant coatings and can be used in machine building to increase reliability and durability of wide range of parts of machines and tools. Method of application of wear-resistant amorphous-crystalline composite coating from plasma of vacuum-arc discharge to surface of metal cutting tool includes placement of processed metal-cutting tool into installation vacuum chamber, containing two electric arc evaporators in the form of cathodes made of aluminum and titanium, located in the same plane opposite to each other, carrying out ion cleaning with an electric arc evaporator in an inert gas medium, applying a lower layer of titanium onto the surface of the metal cutting tool by means of a titanium cathode and applying a layer based on Ti-Al nitride through two cathodes. Application of the coating layers is performed at assistance with the plasma source with the incandescent cathode. Machined metal cutting tool is installed at distance from 18 to 24 cm from centre of table and by means of planetary mechanism is rotated in vacuum chamber with angular speed from 3 to 7 revolutions per minute.
EFFECT: providing formation of coatings with improved mechanical properties, providing uniform thickness of coatings on tools of complex configuration.
