FIELD: metal processing.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises cutting a workpiece from a steel bar on slitting machine, feeding workpiece on NC lathe machine and turning in one pass. Workpiece is then processed successively on two laser units. On one of them metal surface is cleaned with a stream of ions and a developed surface is formed, and on second prepared surface of metal chromium is applied with addition of nickel. Workpiece is fed to NC lathe and turned at coating without using cooling liquid to obtain required diameter of cutter. Turned workpiece is heat treated in a furnace in a vacuum. Workpiece is then transferred to electric erosion installation and grooves are made. Gear cutter then cuts teeth and cuts off each cutter on electric erosion installation. Side surface of each cutter is cleaned if necessary on grinding machine.
EFFECT: higher operability of cutting edge of disc cutter with hard-alloy coating after sharpening with multiple use of cutter.
