FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a self-propelled surface cutter, for example in form of an asphalt cutter, a snowblower or a surface miner, with a working unit comprising a rotatably driven roller body and at least one roller drive unit housed inside roller body and at least a portion of a rotary support of roller body forms, at a roller supporting frame, said at least one roller drive unit having a stationary, fixed to roller support frame and a rotary drive member, connected to roller body drive member. Rotated part of drive of roller drive unit rests on roller body by geometrically closed gripping connection with transfer of torque, but with possibility of longitudinal movement. Gripping connection rotationally captures roller body to be able to transmit drive rotary movement of part of drive to roller body.
EFFECT: rotated part of drive can perform relative to roller body reciprocating movement in direction of its longitudinal axis to compensate for axial displacement due to, for example, thermal expansion or dimensional or inaccuracies of mounting.
