SUBSTANCE: method of operation of a device which generates gas from electric energy, for example, hydrogen and/or methane and/or the like, while a unit converting power into gas receives, for gas generation, electric power from electric mains, to which the unit converting power into gas is connected. Network has a predetermined nominal frequency or, correspondingly, a range of nominal frequencies, while the unit converting power into gas reduces consumption of electric power by a predetermined value or does not consume electrical power at all, if network frequency of electric mains is lower by a predetermined value than the desired nominal frequency of the network and/or network frequency with a gradient of frequency, namely, with a change in time (Δf/Δt), the value of which exceeds the predetermined value change.
EFFECT: increase in rate of reaction to a change of network frequency and an increase in electric power.
