SUBSTANCE: disclosed nut plate seal caps, method of making same, and method of mounting. Cap for sealing a mechanical fastener includes a shell having an exterior surface and an interior surface defining a cavity, an opening extending through shell between interior and exterior surfaces, and a sealant at least partially filling cavity, and a tube passing through hole and formed to be worn on rod of mechanical fastener, wherein shell is configured for sliding along axis of tube. Method of fitting cap on mechanical fastener includes steps of inserting rod of mechanical fastener into tube and moving shell along axis of tube from an initial position into a mounting position, so that sealant is in contact with a section of mechanical fastener and base, in which mechanical fastener is installed.

EFFECT: device for installation of sealing cap on mechanical fastener comprises a clamp, formed and arranged to grip tube with possibility of further release, including with small narrowing cylindrical split bushing, inner surface of which provides gripping and retention of tube and shell, formed and arranged with possibility of movement of shell along tube axis from initial position to mounting position, wherein sealant is in contact with section of mechanical fastener and section of base, in which mechanical fastener is installed.
