FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to forensic medicine, namely to forensic medical examination, and can be used for determining dates of blood drops formation using digital photography. This method provides the following: If blood drops of homogeneous liquid structure and uniform red color are found at smooth, dry and clean surfaces- the period of its formation is up to 30 minutes; If observing blood of homogeneous liquid structure with dark-red central part and more light periphery-formation period is 30 minutes - 1 hour; If observing blood in gel with peripheral drying rim - the period ranges from 1 to 2 hours; upon detection of traces of drops, dried to crusts, with elements of cracking and peeling-the period ranges from 2 to 4 hours; upon detection on the surface of objects in oblique incident light of blood traces in form of three concentric zones, i.e. central colourless loose part with uneven edge, middle of white color with maximum density and inferior edge, outer whitish part of average density with single crusts, the age of blood stain is from 4 to 24 hours.

EFFECT: method provides higher accuracy of determining age of traces of blood drops, is simple, requires no extra expensive equipment and reagents, as well as relatively large number of blood within investigated spot.
