Technical result is achieved by a PLC which includes a controller module; a file system module coupled to controller module and adapted to persistently store archive data files; a memory module. Memory module stores binary data related to controller module. User program module which stores instructions adapted for executing by controller module. Instructions may include creating an archive file in a user application format in file system module; storing binary data in memory module; converting binary data to user application format of archive file; and storing converted binary data as an entry in archive file in file system module.
