FIELD: pharmaceutics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of reducing the size of particles of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) with maintaining its polymorphous form, which includes the stage of processing the active pharmaceutical ingredient by cavitation at the pressure from 300 to 3,500 bar, where the API is suspended in a solvent, in which it is not dissolved. Distribution of sizes of API produced particles is characterised by the span value equal to less than 2.5. Method is implemented in absence of any excipients other than the solvent for suspending.
EFFECT: invention concerns a pharmaceutical composition for local delivery into the nose or the lungs and method for its production involving merging the obtained API with pharmaceutically acceptable excipients.
