SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of wound-care articles in the form of compresses, which have a cooling effect through swelling in water and which are presented individually in vacuum packaging. In furrows formed by elastic deformation in a lower sheet successive doses of a powder of absorbent particles are placed. Lower sheet made of a water-permeable textile material is unwound in a continuous strip. Then it is entirely covered by an upper sheet, which is unwound in a continuous strip, parallel to the lower sheet. Upper sheet is welded to said lower sheet along the intervals between adjacent furrows, thereby isolating the furrows from one another. Then, in each furrow, successive compartments that each contain a dose of said powder are closed. For this purpose the sheets are being welded along transverse weld lines across the whole strip. In a subsequent packaging unit, the compresses obtained each receive a sachet of water. Compress together with sachets of water are individually enclosed between two impermeable sheets welded to each other around each compress.

EFFECT: as a result, higher quality of compresses obtained under conditions of industrial production is achieved.
