FIELD: processing and recycling of wastes; nuclear technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear engineering, particularly to processing of high-level radioactive wastes obtained during rewashing of plutonium dioxide used in production of mixed uranium-plutonium fuel. Apparatus for processing, hardening and packing of high-level radioactive wastes includes device-settler, cartridge filter, a muffle furnace and auxiliary equipment for sampling, weighing and controlling of parameters. To ensure safe operating conditions of personnel the apparatus is arranged in a chain of protective boxes. One of boxes, which serves for insertion of empty and delivery of loaded HRW packages is equipped with gateway device. As packages are used a sleeve and container for storage and transportation of plutonium dioxide.
EFFECT: reliable isolation of highly active wastes, particularly americium for its temporary storage is provided.
