FIELD: decontamination of radioactive waste.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method for reprocessing radioactive waste includes feeding of packed waste to plasma-shaft furnace and pyrolysis of waste involving oxidation of coke residue, extraction of molten slag and pyrogas, afterburning of the latter in combustion chamber, abrupt cooling down of exhaust gases to temperature of 200-250 °C followed by mechanical and absorption cleaning. In the process packed waste is fed to plasma furnace from computerized store through impermeable conveyer. Pyrogas afterburning is conducted at 1 200-1 350 °C with air supplied to combustion chamber at two levels affording air feed at level of pyrogas fed to precombustion chamber and air fed to top part of combustion-chamber main space. Radioactive waste reprocessing plant has waste charging unit, plasma-shaft furnace with melter in bottom part of furnace and slag drain unit communicating with slag melt intake box, furnace air feeder, gas conduit, and pyrogas combustion chamber. In addition, it has evaporating heat exchanger for abrupt reduction of exhaust gas temperature, and gas cleaning system.
EFFECT: enhanced degree of safety and economic efficiency.
