FIELD: oceanology.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to field of oceanological measurements and mostly may be used for monitoring state of ocean surface. Essence: specified point of the water surface is probed with fixed vertical lidar beam, placed at a distance H from water surface. Flares of mirror reflection are registered and, according to them, one calculates probability of density of components of the water surface where statistical moments of slopes are identified. One identifies one or two components of slopes of water surface. When determining each component, simultaneously specified point of water surface is sensed with vertical beam and is sensed is probed at nonzero angles of incidence with fixed beams of two or more lidars, each of which is located at a distance H from the specified point of water surface and rays of which lie in one plane with vertical beam. One registers glares of mirror reflection by all lidars, and calculates probability density of one or two component slopes of water surface. When determining two components of plane of beams lidars, intended for determination of each component, are mutually perpendicular.
EFFECT: technical result is increasing of accuracy owing to simultaneous measurement of flares of mirror reflection by the areas with different inclination.
