FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry, particularly to production of amides of fatty acids, which are intermediate products for synthesis of a variety of surfactants used in oil production, construction, household chemistry, cosmetics. Method of producing N,N-dimethylpropane-diamides of fatty acids involves reaction in a reactor for synthesis of fatty acids and N,N-dimethylpropane-diamine, mixing and heating the reaction mass, distillation of water released from the synthesis reactor. Distillation of the released water from the synthesis reactor is carried out via a rectifier with multiple partial return during the reaction of the released water and dissolved in it unreacted N,N-dimethylpropane-diamine from the rectifier into the synthesis reactor. Fatty acids used are oleic and stearic acids. Reaction mass is heated to the temperature of 135-155 °C. Distillation of the released water from the synthesis reactor through the rectifier and a heat exchanger is carried out for 8-9 hours.

EFFECT: simple and cheap method of producing amides of fatty acids in industrial scale.
