FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used for making castings from cast iron, including castings of glass-forming tooling. Method comprises smelting cast iron, casting into a ladle, ladle modification, filling moulds and thermal treatment of castings. Prespheroidizing, spheroidizing and graphitizing modificators are preliminary added into the ladle, in amount, wt%, of 0.2-0.3, 0.4-0.5 and 0.4-0.5, respectively, of weight of liquid cast iron in the ladle. Mould is successively filled, wherein up to 30-50 % of the height of the casting mould is filled with a modified cast iron melt, and a refilling - with a non-modified cast iron melt. Heat treatment of castings is carried out by self-annealing in the mould for at least 60 minutes before shaking-out.
EFFECT: higher operating life of cast parts.
