FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to separation of monochloroacetic acid and dichloroacetic acid one from another by extractive distillation, including steps of (i) bringing a mixture containing monochloroacetic acid and dichloroacetic acid into contact with an extraction agent, which is chemically stable and which has affinity to BF3 between 65 kJ/mol and 110 kJ/mol, (ii) distillation of mixture to obtain a stream of monochloroacetic acid and a stream containing dichloroacetic acid and extraction agent, and (iii) regeneration of extraction agent.
EFFECT: achieving good separation and extraction agent can be regenerated relatively easily.
