FIELD: fat and oil industry.
SUBSTANCE: method for modification of Curcuma aromatica essential oil for preparation of value added aromatic products, wherein said method comprises steps mixing essential oil with one solvent or a combination of more than one solvent, cooling mixture over ice bath or at lower temperature at rotation of 1,000 rpm or at simple magnetic stirrer at high speed, addition of reducing agent at different proportion at a certain time period for desired product, after completion of reaction, addition of ice water to reaction mixture to terminate reaction, extracting mixture using solvent for three to five times, washing extract with diluted aqueous acid solution and then with water, washed product is dried at lower temperature to obtain modified essential oils in order to develop aromatic products with recovery of 60 to 95 % and use of modified essential oil in range between 0.05 to 100 % in perfumery or allied industries.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to create a simple method for producing value added fragranced products, as well as providing an easy and convenient method of converting carbonyl groups into their hydroxyl derivatives.
