FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to selective catalytic reduction system for absorption of volatile compounds. Selective catalytic reduction catalyst system for treating diesel exhaust gases which contain nitrogen oxides and diesel soot particulates, comprising: a catalyst material comprising: a majority portion comprising a titania-based support material, and a minority portion comprising a catalyst component comprising at least one oxide of vanadium, tungsten, molybdenum; and a capture material comprising a majority portion for capturing a minority portion comprising volatile oxides or hydroxides catalyst material, wherein minority portion of capture material maintains a total fractional monolayer coverage on majority portion of capture material of about 5 or less; and wherein capture material is positioned in a mixture with catalyst material, or is located downstream of catalyst material. Also disclosed is a cleaning diesel engine exhaust system, which includes selective catalytic reduction system for cleaning diesel exhaust gases and method of cleaning diesel exhaust gases.

EFFECT: technical result is reduction of emission of vanadium.
