FIELD: internal combustion engines.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the purification of exhaust gases. A catalyst trap of depleted NOx for purifying exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine contains: i) the first layer, wherein the specified first layer contains one or more platinum group metals, the first material containing cerium dioxide, and the first inorganic oxide; ii) the second layer, wherein the specified second layer contains one or more noble metals, the second material containing cerium dioxide, and the second inorganic oxide; and at the same time, the first material containing cerium dioxide or the first inorganic oxide contains a rare-earth alloying additive, while the total concentration of the first material containing cerium dioxide is higher than the total concentration of the second material containing cerium dioxide, while the first layer essentially does not contain barium.

EFFECT: increase in the quality of exhaust gas purification.
