SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to construction of pipelines. Laying vessel for laying pipelines on bed of a body of water has a floating structure, a laying tower hinged to floating structure and designed to assemble and lay a pipeline on bed of body of water, and a system for releasing and recovering pipeline. Release and recovery system has a haul line and a sheave assembly for guiding haul line. Sheave assembly is fitted to floating structure to move between a work position at laying tower, and a position away from laying tower. Invention also discloses a method of operating a laying vessel and a method of switching laying vessel to pipeline release mode.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method for construction of pipelines.
