SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to pipeline transport and can be used for laying pipelines at the reservoir bottom from a ship. Pipe laying ship includes the main deck and a pipe laying derrick directed upwards from the ship. Derrick comprises a first bottom section directed upward from its proximal end to its distal end located above main deck (103), and second upper section (311) movably installed on the first bottom section. Pipe laying derrick can displace between the first pipe laying position, in which second upper section (311) is located above the first bottom section, and the second folded position, in which second upper section (311) is moved relative to the first bottom section, and total height of the pipe laying derrick is reduced. Pipe is installed with the possibility of movement in the process of laying from second upper section (311) to the first bottom section.

EFFECT: technical result: improvement of stability, reliability and durability of the pipe laying derrick and the pipe laying ship in general due to reduction of the derrick center of gravity, higher maneuverability and trafficability of the ship by reducing the derrick height, higher efficiency of loading the pipes on the pipe laying derrick.
