FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medium for growing plants. Medium for growing plants, made from polyurethane, is characterized by elasticity, (measured in accordance with ISO 8307 document) comprising at most 40%, deviation under load for compression (OIS) with 40%, (measured in accordance with ISO 3386/1) comprising,
at least 16 kPa, core density at spontaneous foaming, (measured in accordance with ISO 845 document) making, at least, 20 kg/m3, and increase of volume at saturation with water, which is at most 25%. Also disclosed is method of foam material producing suitable for use as medium for growing plants. Foamed polyurethane is obtained as a result of reaction between polyisocyanate, mixture of polyol polyethers and water with isocyanate index of 90-150, where used polyol mixture contains at least 2 polyols and where polyol mixture contains less than 50% (wt) of oxyethylene content by weight of polyol mixture. Also disclosed is application of polyurethane foam obtained using disclosed method, as medium for growing plants.
EFFECT: technical result is use of polyurethane foam according to invention enables to obtain plants having increased plants weight.
