POLYURETHANE USED FOR SOIL IMPROVING Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A01G9/29 A01G24/44 C08G18/10

Abstract RU 2645766 C2

FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cultivation of plants, namely to additives to the substrate. Substrate for cultivating plants contains soil and/or other natural plant growth media and polyurethane flakes as an additive. Polyurethane foam has a density of 25 to 100 kg/m3, compressive load deflection (CLD) at 40 % from 5 to 50 kPa, increase in volume with water saturation of not more than 25 %, and a water-buffer capacity of 35 to 80 %. Flakes of polyurethane foam have dimensions in the range from 0.1 to 100 mm. When using, under anaerobic conditions, the amount of soil and/or other natural substrate and polyurethane flakes in the substrate for cultivating plants is such, that the volumetric ratio of polyurethane flakes in the substrate for cultivating plants is in the range from 10:90 to 90:10 (v. %), volume % is calculated in terms of the flake volume with respect to the total volume of the flake-containing substrate for cultivating plants. When using, under aerobic conditions, the amount of polyurethane flakes in the substrate for cultivating plants is from 15 to 60 % by volume of polyurethane flakes, when calculating based on the volume of flakes in relation to the total volume of the substrate for growing the plants. Substrate is used to reduce the release of methane and other greenhouse gases. Substrate is used to cultivate rice. Substrate is used to cultivate plants under aerobic conditions, in which water retention is increased.

EFFECT: increase in water absorption and water retention in the substrate is provided.
