FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, and namely to X-ray diagnostics, and can be used for determination of probability of developing osteoporotic vertebrae fractures in women in postmenopausal period. Mineral density of trabecular and cortical bones of II-IV lumbar vertebrae. Indices of bilateral asymmetry of mineral density of trabecular and cortical bones are defined. Probable risk of fracture (P) is calculated by formula. If P is more than 0.5, high risk of fractures is diagnosed. If P is from 0.5 to 0.371, risk of fractures is determined as average. If P is less than 0.371 risk of fractures is low.
EFFECT: method enables accurate and informative prediction of probability of developing osteoporotic fractures in women in postmenopausal period due to complex mineral density analysis of trabecular, cortical bones and indices of bilateral asymmetry of mineral density of lumbar vertebrae.
