FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automatic control of composition of substances and can be used in potassium industry for calibrating radioisotope density meters for suspensions, using a source Na22 radiation by samples suspensions-imitations and for checking correctness of density meters readings in operation. Method of calibrating and checking radioisotope density meters for suspensions by samples-imitations includes formation of a number of samples, the density of which is within a given range, irradiation of samples by a source of the density meter and registration of radiation by a detector. Herewith the samples-imitations used are represented by a combined solution of calcium chloride and caesium chloride, the composition of which is calculated separately for the solution of calcium chloride and the caesium chloride one provided the maximum density of the solution to avoid crystallization at the lowest temperature limit. Ratio of calcium chloride and caesium chloride in samples-imitations is calculated so, that molecular weight of the sample-imitation is closest to the molecular weight of the controlled suspension. On the basis of calculated values samples-imitations are prepared and used for calibration of the radioisotope density meters.

EFFECT: technical result is higher accuracy of calibrating radioisotope density meters within the range of measurements of 1,200-1,600 kg/m3 with maintaining properties of samples-imitations at the lowest temperature limit allowed during their storage and transportation, providing safety for human health, explosion and fire safety during preparation of the samples-imitations.
