FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: the invention relates to oil and gas industry and is used to measure density of drilling fluid and cementing slurry used in well construction. A radiation-proof emitter is installed on piping, and a detachable detector is installed on the piping element chosen for measurement. The density equivalents of solutions with values covering the necessary measurement range are prepared. The density equivalents are calibrated according to the initial calibration chart obtained with standard solution samples. The density equivalents are used for periodic calibration which requires placement between the emitter and density equivalent detector. Measurement data is registered, the calibration dependence chart is compiled. Furthermore, the initial calibration, the calibration of density equivalent and the periodic calibration with density equivalents is carried out with the pipe element separated from the piping or with an imitation of pipe element. Density equivalents are injected into the pipe element with the possibility of their successive fixation in relation to the pipe element faces in the detector sensitivity zone during measurement data registration.

EFFECT: increased accuracy of nuclear density meter calibration in the field, simplifying and reducing cost of metrological operations.
