FIELD: mining.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of inorganic iron oxide pigments on basis of quartz during processing of solid wastes of mining enterprises of metallurgical complex and can be used in construction, paint and varnish industry and in production of pigments-fillers for polymer materials (plastics, rubbers, enamels, inks, adhesives, etc.). Method of processing silicic rocks to produce filler-pigments is described, which involves heat treatment at temperature of 400-750 °C with subsequent milling of product to particles with average size of 1-63 mcm, where silicic rock is mining wastes of metallurgical complex with following composition, wt%: silicon oxide - 62-72; iron oxides (Fe2O3+FeO) - 8.55-10.2; other impurities of wastes: calcium oxide - 2.00-2.52; aluminium oxide - 3.5-4.53; magnesium oxide - 2.2-4.32; impurities (Na2O+K2O) - 1.8-2.66 and water - the rest, thermal treatment is carried out for 2 hours.
EFFECT: technical result is improvement of paint and technological parameters of filler-pigments, based on silicic rocks, namely, reduced oil consumption and covering power.
