SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sheet styrofoam based on cross-linked noncrystalline polylactic acid and method of its production. Styrofoam sheet contains one or more layers of resin, containing non-crystalline polylactic acid, where this non-crystalline polylactic acid in the resin is cross-linked, and forms closed cellular structure, wherein this one or more resin layer is made of biodegradable resin-based composite containing from 0.001 to 10 wt% of cross-linking agent and from 0.1 to 10 wt% of. foaming agent per 100 weight parts of noncrystalline polylactic acid, wherein this biodegradable resin-based composite material contains also a cross-linking agent which is triallylisocyanurate (TAIC), in an amount of 1.0 wt% or less. per 100 weight parts of noncrystalline polylactic acid.
EFFECT: this styrofoam has not only excellent water resistance and technological specifications, but also relatively high index of foaming and homogeneous closed cellular structure.
