FIELD: technological processes; ecology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of purifying water from oxalic acid by means of its complete oxidation with formation of carbon dioxide and water (mineralization), can be used for water treatment and/or cleaning effluents of different productions and is aimed at protection of the environment and human health. Method of purifying water from oxalic acid in presence of a catalyst containing activated carbon including supply of an ozone-oxygen mixture into a suspension and extraction of spent catalyst, the catalyst used is activated carbon with the grain size of 40-100 mcm with included in pores magnetite Fe3O4 in the amount of 20-30 wt%, herewith the supply of ozone-oxygen mixture with the ozone concentration of 9-11 mg/l at the said catalyst concentration of 0.6-1.2 g/l is carried out in the mode of bubbling, and extraction of the spent catalyst is performed by magnetic separation. Catalyst is obtained by suspending the activated carbon in presence of hydroxides of iron (II, III) at heating, creation of an alkaline medium and separation of solid phase.
EFFECT: technical result is accelerating and cheapening the process of purifying water from oxalic acid due to increased weight activity of the catalyst, reduction of specific consumption of ozone and exclusion of mechanical stirring the suspension.
