FIELD: laser engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method, in which analyzed optical system is illuminated with wide plane-parallel beam of laser radiation with known wave length is disclosed λ, focused radiation is passed through plane-parallel plate of uniaxial nonlinear crystal, installed in image plane, thus converting it into radiation with wavelength λ/2, thereafter this radiation is transmitted to electro-optical sensor, which is installed in two or more specified values of distance from output face of plane-parallel plate, radii of obtained circles of scattering are measured at different distances and spherical aberration of optical system is determined.
EFFECT: technical result is increase of accuracy, reduced complexity of determination of spherical aberration of objectives and lenses, including in infrared spectrum, while maintaining speed of determination of spherical aberration.
